The traffic stop was attempted on Interstate 81 near mile marker 56.1 in Silver Spring Township around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, according to a release by Pennsylvania state police.

The driver of the car Hanif Malik Hall, 30, and the passenger Malik Lamar Clover, 31, both of Harrisburg, attempted to flee, and then jumped out of their car and ran to the marked state police vehicle and sped off, police say.

The pursuit led them to EconoLodge located at 1252 Harrisburg Pike in Carlisle where Clover jumped out and a manhunt began as police pursued him on foot, closing off the area to the public from 1 p.m. until he was captured around 2:30 p.m.

Hall had continued to drive the vehicle until it became disabled and he too fled, was pursued on foot, and arrested, according to the release.

The duo has been charged with numerous offenses including fleeing and eluding and persons not to possess weapons, police say.

Hall was wanted by state police at the time of this incident for failing to appear to face previous charges of fleeing and eluding in 2017, court records show.
